It was worse than expected, even for a teacher keeping a student from prying into his personal life. Many of the people he once recognized as family died hundreds of years ago. An unfortunate consequence of his longevity.
That photonic kid would benefit from his mentorship. She could teach him a thing or two in return. He's curmudgeonly in his old age. Still a hell of a dinner guest, though.
